He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he received the sacraments of baptism, holy communion, and confirmation, and he served as a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Beverly Louise Blum Boyce passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in November. From this point on a new page in the history of funeral service in the Windom area begins….
Lee and Doris moved to the country to their farmhouse in Milaca, MN in 1995 and enjoyed the country life until her passing in 2014. He fought cancer 3 times, and moved back to Coon Rapid, MN in 2018 to Margaret Place Senior Apartments. Lee lived independently until September of this year, and he enjoyed the fun activities at the apartments and joined in the activities and was loved by all who knew him.

Beaufort Berry died on June 25, 1968, and he is buried in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. Ronnie married Carol Jacobson on January 20, 1968, at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. The couple raised and loved two sons, Mike and Joey, along with their foster son, Steve Riordan.
After his death his wife continued to be active in the business for a few years. In 1935 and 1936 the Aune-Schottle firm employed a young man by the name of Arthur Hanson, who would later return to Windom and buy into the business. In 1937 a young man by the name of Gerald Stempfley became employed as a mortician.

The official date of change of ownership was October 1, 1955. Kenneth Witt and his wife, the former Bette Moore, wee both natives of Storden. Mr. Witt had served in the Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War for 6 months.
He enlisted in the United States Army in November 1953. He served two years, stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds Missile Range, Las Cruces, NM, then was transferred to the U.S. His hobbies included cooking, finishing, and refinishing furniture, and traveling. He enjoyed listening to music, attending concerts, and very much appreciated art. Jerry loved cats and enjoyed taking care of his cat, Max, who was real good company. Ardoth Ann Kraetsch was born September 2, 1929, to the late August and Frieda Jauert, in Luverne, Minnesota.
Hanson-Witt Funeral Chapel
They assisted with funerals, driving, visitations, telephone service and housekeeping. On Tuesday, September 23, 1969, Art Hanson died unexpectedly from a heart attack at the Windom Hospital. They were both buried at the Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson lived in the apartment above the funeral home on 13th Street.
Shortly after purchasing the business the funeral home was completely redecorated and permanent steel siding was applied to the outside along with energy efficient windows and doors. Mr. Anderson was a native of Sioux Falls, SD., and a graduate of the California College of Mortuary Science. He had been employed at the Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls and at the Engebretson Funeral Home in Luverne, MN, prior to coming to Windom with his wife, Mary, and family. On January 1, 1970, Philip J. Anderson joined Mr. Witt as a licensed employee.

Lee Richard Van Norman passed away on November 22, 2022 at the age of 89, in Coon Rapids, MN. Lee was born in a farmhouse in Windom, MN on August 30, 1933 son of Glen and Julia Van Norman. He proudly served in the United States Army and attended the University of Minnesota. Lee met his beloved wife Lavon Lindberg at a New Years Eve party after he returned home from serving in the Korean War in the United States Army.
As time progressed improvements have been made to the Jeffers Funeral Chapel and it is handicapped accessible. In 1998 Joel O. LaCanne became a licensed employee of the funeral home. Even though the business transaction took place in August of 1979, the name change became effective on January 1, 1980. In keeping with their philosophy of how the business should be conducted and the treatment people should receive, Anderson and Schmidt chose to use the term “Funeral Service” in much of their logos and printed matter.
He was fond of pets, especially Goldie “the shop cat” and Fudgie, our “granddog”. He cherished the time spent with his family and granddaughters, as well as time together at their Fish Lake cabin. On June 9, 1957, Darrel was united in marriage to Janet Ilene Crowell at the First United Methodist Church in Windom. The couple was blessed with five children, George, Dean, Brad, Don, and Ron. Darrel worked most of his life as an over-the-road trucker, then worked construction, until the past few years he helped Scott Rahn on the farm, until his retirement.
